About

The Department of Economics at the Delhi NCR campus is functioning under the School of Social Sciences in CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Established in the year 2019 with the commencement of the new Campus at Delhi NCR, the department has representation of faculty from all cultures and regions in India and with qualifications from the top institutions in the country and abroad. Together with rich experience in teaching, research and consultancy, they specialises in Monetary and Financial Economics, Environmental Economics, Behavioural Economics, Industrial Economics, Informal Economy and so on, involving in advanced research.

The Department stands out for the high profiles of its faculty in terms of the pedagogic innovativeness and research accomplishment. The current team of well-experienced faculty in the department contribute to research in broad and diverse areas. Publications of faculty focus on issues of current significance. The high standard of the publications earns them places in the popular Scopus indexed and Web of Science journals across the globe. The department offers MSc Economics and Analytics programme which excels in its theoretical orientation and analytical skill formation. Innovative teaching strategies bring exceptional learning experience for the students. Challenging academic engagements contribute to the holistic development of the young minds. Advanced training in quantitative tools and statistical applications make the postgraduates competent to qualify for the doctoral programmes of the best institutions of the world and attain career positions with prominent global corporations. Along with core courses such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Developmental Economics, International Economics, Behavioural Economics, Financial Economics, Environmental Economics, Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, a wide range of specialized courses including Labour Economics, Public Economics, Health Economics, and Operations Research are well integrated into the curriculum. The emphasis on experiential learning has made Dissertation, Internship, and training on data analysis an integral part of the curriculum. Through its well-known academic programmes, the Department, with its enviable legacy of illustrious teachers and alumni, has carved a niche for itself as a center of learning where Economics is taught with a difference. It is a matter of great satisfaction that students and faculty act in unanimity to make the teaching-learning process a highly decisive job. Currently, the Department, under the leadership of Dr. Surekha C, the HoD, and Dr.Shivani Chaudhry the Academic Coordinator, along with ten accomplished faculty members offers a wide array of academic programmes at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral levels.

Warm greetings and a hearty welcome to the Department of Economics at CHRIST (Deemed to be University)

The Department of Economics offers MSc Economics and Analytics programme at post graduate level along with guidance for PhD. The MSc programme is designed to match the global standards in terms of theoretical content and analytical orientation. The Department has a tremendous record of the past students joining Universities such as LSE, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, UCL, SOAS, Sciences Po, NUS, Erasmus, Amsterdam and so on for higher studies. The students have also been placed with some of the top-notch corporates.

The students receive thorough training in research through a guided research thesis that they complete during the programme. Numerous academic activities and events including workshops and seminars provide extensive learning experience to the students. The research output of the faculty is quite current and change making. The Department has tie-up with national organisations for long term consultancy. Joint publications between senior students and faculty is an exceptional achievement of the Department. The department regularly organises guest lectures and conducts workshops and for researchers and faculty in other universities.
